Packet: Caps are sorted according to distance - make sure you get the right color! Wetsuit and non-wetsuit swimmers for each distance will wear the same color cap. Your hand will be marked with your race number. Your timing chip needs to go around your ankle. If you have your own strap, make sure you turn in the timing strap to packet pick up.
Parking (See Map Here): Parking is extremely limited at the lake. There is one official parking lots - one off of Kent-Kangley road. The boat launch parking lot is closed for construction in June. Parking can be extremely crowded on warm Friday evenings and it might be wise to forego those altogether and head further out.
There is parking on the residential streets further north and at the Soos Creek Trailhead or at Meridian Elementary. PLEASE OBEY ALL NO-PARKING SIGNS. The City of Kent police dept must ticket you if you park in the wrong spot. Keep your eyes open! We suggest bringing your bike and plan to ride in from the neighborhood with your gear in a backpack. There will be a safe location to rack your bike at the venue.
There is limited parking available behind Northwest Tri & Bike also. Please park in a spot away from the building. See map Right
Start: This race has a deep water start. It’s about 50 yards to the start buoy from shore. The starter will direct swimmers when to head out to the start buoy. Swimmers are asked to be at the shore 10-15 minutes before their race begins. The course is Clockwise. The finish will be at the shore. All participants for each distance start together (i.e. wetsuit and non-wetsuit 2.4 mile swimmers start at the same time).
Warm up: You may warm-up before the race in the area between the shore and the start or just to the right of that area. All athletes must cross the start mats prior to entering the water before their race.
Security: There will be a safe area to leave your belongings - including bike racks if you choose to ride one in from a further parking spot.
Safety: Officers of the City of Kent Police will be on hand in the city’s police boat. There will also be lifeguards and kayakers throughout the swim route. If you need assistance of any kind, please wave an arm and shout - someone will come to you.
BBQ: The BBQ is free to all athletes and volunteers. Family and friends are welcome to join in for $5 per person.
